Sports Day!

This year the Year 12’s organised a more competitive dat with much more participation. There was a supporters award up for the grabs for the best dressed. Dressing up to support your team comes as common knowledge but not many people actually do it… Even more don’t participate at all! With all the hype it’s clear we had a record breaking number of students participate in the sports. We had some very interesting costumes come with this hype. There was superman in blue, little yellow cooking superheroes and lil yellow and blue kids running everywhere.

While Mitchell has won at least the last 4 years straight, we Mitchellians didn’t go in overally confident. While there was support for yellow, we knew blue would come all out. And they did!! What suprised me more was the response from Mitchell. While we have won, our track record is terrible when it comes to participation. Congratulations to every Mitchell person who participated!

By the end of the day we still hadn’t completed the 200m races or relays plus the presentations were still to come. As time flew by, the organisers pulled the pin for the day. Everyone returned the next day for the rest of the events. While everyone was tired and sore from the day before, the teams came out fighting. Mitchell dominated the relays which eventually got them over the line. At the end of term assembly, Mitchell was declared the House team winner… Yet again!

2008 Local sports Awards

Our local Football/Nertball Club had their Junior Presentation Day or as people say Vote Count day. In my grade new recruit who played GA (Goal Attack – shoots goals) won and our GD (Goal defence – defends goals) got runners up. I got third which was a big effort because I didn’t think I would poll much at all. I play WD (Wing defence – positioned in the mid court and defends in the mid court). My brother who plays football for the U/16 team won the ‘Most improved’ player. He played U/16’s for his second year and polled really well too. He ended up 8th out of about 22 players. Pretty good. Also my other sibling, my sister, played her first year in 13/U netball. Her team made it into the Grand Final and they won. It was the most amazing feeling to know that your sister had achieved something I couldn’t. See, when I played in that age group, the team I played in had made it to the Grand Final but we lost. It was great to see her win. Anyway she polled 5 votes and while that isn’t very many she was a young player, a newbie. She was one of the players who sat a lot of time on the bench and she, herself was absolutely stoked that she polled at all.

For anyone who cares AFL is the countries highest league of Australian rules football. In our clubs Senior football team we have an ex-AFL player. That’s pretty big. That’s like saying Beckham retires from the big league and goes to play for a local team who struggles to get a team together. Pretty awesome!!

Netball at an end

Hey everyone! Well my netball season is over now. It feels like only yesterday that I was writing a post saying that the season was about to begin and now I’m saying it has ended. We ended 4th on the ladder making it into the finals. We won the elimination final and went through to the 1st Semi Final. We also won that by 4 or 5 goals. We had made it to the Preliminary Final and played the top of the ladder team. We lost in the end by 9 goals. I was injured before hand so that didn’t help us in anyway.

I spent more time on the ground than up on my feet. I am happy with the way our team went as we only just made it in the finals and got through to the Preliminary Final. So I’d like to thank the team for a great effort and the coach for helping us through. Also to everyone else who supported us especially the parents. Thankyou everyone!!

Ankle injury running in family

Hey guys as most of you would know I have recently recovered from a severly sprained ankle. Well it’s running in the family. My closest cousin fell over while kicking the footy and sprained her ankle. She went to the hospital and they said that it was sprained. Just like mine! Although her bruise wasn’t anywhere near as good!! Then just last Saturday my sister was mucking around with her friends at the footy and tripped over. She now is hobbling around the house. Her ankle was much more swollen than mine but her bruise aint nothing compared to mine! It will be my brother or my cousin’s sister next. SCARY! They will have to be extremely careful now.

Netball this year…continued from last post

The season is into it’s 5th game this saturday. Last saturday we played Moyston Willuara. I sat on bench for the first 2 quarters. I came on as WD for the 3rd quarter. Sadly after 2 minutes or so I went down after crashing into one of the opposition chicks. I went to hospital thinking my ankle was broken. Luckily it was only badly sprained. I have been on crutches for a few days now but am getting better. I will be out for 1 or 2 weeks. BOOHOO. I love my netball and its going to hurt not being able to play.

Sports Day Last Term

Last term we had our yearly sports day. This year I did better than ever s I got six ribbons. I’m in U/15’s. I got a 1st in U/16 relay – had to fill in as they didn’t have enough team members, 2nd in Discus by only 8cm, 3rd in javelin and 4th in 400m and 200m. I probably got more ribbons that day than I did in my whole primary school sports.

Teachers announcing winners and giving out ribbons to place getters.
